Can you present your company in a few words?

B Medical Systems S.à.r.l, founded in 1979 and based in Hosingen, is a global manufacturer and distributor of medical cold chain solutions. Over its four decades of experience, the company has created innovative medical cold chain solutions such as solar refrigerators, vaccine refrigerators, freezers, blood bank refrigerators, plasma freezers and ultra-low freezers for the storage and transport of pharmaceuticals, biologicals, blood components, samples and much more, worldwide. Our commitment to supporting healthcare facilities, governments and NGOs has not only saved countless lives, but also helped entire communities to develop and thrive. In addition, as an established player in the vaccine cold chain, we have installed over 500,000 units in more than 170 countries to support our partners in their immunisation efforts.

“Just like the past four decades, our company will continue to revolutionize the medical cold chain industry with innovations and help save lives worldwide”

What are the new challenges and opportunities that you identify?

New technologies are revolutionizing the medical field in ways that many didn’t think would be possible and this has led to medicines becoming more temperature sensitive. This was already an issue in the past when it came to safely delivering biologicals until the last mile, but these new technologies have expanded the temperatures that a cold chain needs to maintain from the traditional 2°C to 8°C and -20°C, all the way down to -86°C. This creates a challenging situation when it comes to storage and transport in remote locations which often lack basic infrastructure. Moreover, the real-time monitoring of temperatures has become even more important due to the increasing layers in the supply chain. We are constantly working on new solutions to cater to all these challenges by bringing in more innovative features and versatility to our products.

How do you see your company evolving in the next 5 years?

We will continue innovating and bringing more solutions that can cater to the global demands of the medical cold chain and will continue our growth across the world. The location of Luxembourg gives us incredible benefits and support from both the governmental and the industrial ecosystems. Moreover, our acquisition by Azenta Life Sciences will accelerate our growth as we truly are complementary to each other, both in terms of portfolios and presence in different markets. Together, we will continue innovating and creating solutions for the global demands of the cold chain market.
